4 Days on the Big Island of Hawaii

Oh man, it’s been a whirlwind year, and I wasn’t able to do as much writing as I had hoped. But now that things are settling down post-wedding and with our home construction almost wrapped up for fall, I’m planning on spending a little more time here.  Continue Reading

10×10 Summer Packing List

10 clothing items for summer packing

It’s time for another 10×10 challenge! Lee of the Stylebee is once again hosting the Summer 10×10 challenge (sadly Caroline from Unfancy is sick). The simple idea is that you choose 10 pieces and style them into 10 outfits. I had great success last year with the challenge being perfectly timed with some extended time in Tahoe, and a trip to Michigan. San Francisco doesn’t have particularly summery weather this time of year (we’re lucky if temps reach the 70s in the City!), so summer clothes tend to look pretty much the same as spring and fall. 2018 Winter 10×10

It’s that time again! The Winter 10×10 challenge is starting! I’m really looking forward to the focus on styling and remixing items I have, since I embarked on a year long challenge that’s really going to limit the amount of new items I’ll be adding to my wardrobe this year. More on that soon 🙂 Continue Reading

Wreath making

I distinctly remember my first real panic attack. It was Black Friday and I was in San Francisco’s Westfield Shopping Center near Union Square. The crush of people was insane, and I found myself taking shelter in David’s Tea with a hot cup of tea and a couple friendly baristas until my boyfriend at the time finished his shopping. Milwaukee Packing List

A couple weeks ago, Lee and I traveled to Milwaukee, WI for the wedding of some close friends. I was in the midst of the Fall 10×10 challenge, and though I decided to take the weekend off, found myself still reaching mostly for those pieces, with a couple additions. Continue Reading

Perfect summer vs Riley High Rise jeans

Today I’m comparing two of my favorite pairs of jeans. I’ve been a long time wearer of Madewell jeans, so the Perfect Summer ended up being my first foray into cropped, straight denim. When I decided to purchase a similar pair in a darker wash, I looked for a USA made pair of jeans and I ended up with the Agolde Riley jeans, which are designed in LA and made in the USA.

Kitchen renovation plan

  1. Macramé plant holder | 2. Texture canisters | 3. Faucet | 4. Pendant light | 5. Enamel dishes | 6. Cabinet pulls | 7. Quartz countertop | 8. Castiron sink | 9. Floor tile | 10. Induction cooktop | 11. Oven

Winter is quickly approaching and we’re getting to the fun part of putting the kitchen back together! It’s finally time to start on the finishing touches. People joke about who the heck are these people that always need space to entertain on all those HGTV shows, but the truth is, for a couple of introverts, Lee and I have people over a lot. After hosting friends and family one or two weekends per month last winter with our old, dinky kitchen, I can’t wait to host in our new one!We love to cook, so we selected small but nice appliances to help maximize the small footprint of the space. We’ll be utilizing an undercounter refrigerator to open up counter space, as well an undercounter beverage fridge that opens to the dining room. Continue Reading

Introducing our mountain home

cabin in the snow
This past January, we purchased a cabin in the Sierras near Lake Tahoe CA. We fell in love with the large windows and open concept, perfect for hosting (which we do a lot!) After surviving the wettest winter on record, the snow finally all melted in late June. By that point we had spent enough time in the house that the list of necessary renovations to make it our actual home had solidified. But before I get to what we’re changing, let me show what we started with. Here’s what the cabin looked like the first time we saw it:

Here we are

I’ve been meaning to carve out a little corner of the internet for quite awhile now, and here we are. I hope you’ll join me on this adventure as I design my way towards a more intentional lifestyle. I’m excited to see where it takes me.
